No. All take off and landings are done from the back of our world leading purpose built Parasail boat. At your request you may have your legs touched down into the water.
You may wear whatever you are most comfortable in. Take into consideration that it does get cooler on the water versus being on land. Obviously, if it is in your interest to get wet, a bathing suit is recommended.
Each ride lasts approximately 10 minutes in the air and the entire duration of the trip lasts up to one hour and 15 minutes. Passengers take turn as others observe. We carry up to 12 passengers on board per trip.
Flying Kiwi Parasail offers single, tandem and triple flights. It is based on a combined weight depending on the wind conditions at the time. The weight range is between 60 and 250 kilos. The wind is very changeable in the Bay of Islands therefore we cannot guarantee weights until the time of flights.
The team at Flying Kiwi Parasail has 20 years experience in the industry. All skippers and crew go through an extensive and thorough training process. We are fully certified, insured and one of the founding members of the New Zealand Parasail Association (NZPA).
Yes! You are more than welcome to bring your own cameras or Go Pros- Bare in mind Flying Kiwi Parasail do not take any responsibilities if it gets wet or you drop it. We offer a great option if you do not want to risk it with our awesome photo package for $35/flight. A Go Pro camera goes up in the Parachute with you and takes photos of you with the beautiful views in the background. You receive more than 100 photos and an optional video on an SD - memory card that you leave the boat with.

What an absolutely amazing experience. This is one of the best things I have done and what an amazing way to see the whole of the Bay of Islands. The crew are wonderful professional and extremely good at what they do, they took away any nerves that I initially had. The views of the Bay were beyond incredible! I would recommend this activity to anyone heading to Paihia!

Whow, this was truly an amazing experience!!! The crew were great and we were made to feel completely at ease. It is hard to describe the pleasure of floating above the Bay of Islands at 1200 feet in the calm, quiet, still atmosphere below a big parasail. This is definitely a MUST DO when visiting the area. If you have any doubts put them aside. We felt completely safe and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

I have been flying for 43 years, but any chance to get airborne is always wonderful. We had a wonderful experience parasailing over the Bay of Islands. What was interesting was the launch from the back of the boat and the landing back on the boat at the end of the parasailing. It is very unlike the parasailing that we see on the beach. I took some video shoots using my iPhone. I wish I had brought Go-pro to provide better view from above. It was wonderful!

My partner & I went up on the 22nd of October, and found the whole experience absolutely thrilling! I took my phone with me up into the air and got some amazing pictures – we even videocalled our friends and shared the fantastic view, live! It looks SO much further up, when you’re the one in the harness. Chilling in the boat down below as the other guests went for a sail was also really fun. Definitely a great experience, I would recommend it to anyone!
